Harry Diamond's shift from Rory McIlroy's longtime friend to caddie has proven extremely profitable.

After beginning the final round at Augusta tied for the lead with Cam Young, McIlroy carded a one-under 71 to successfully defend his Masters title with a 12-under total. Scottie Scheffler caught fire and surged up the leaderboard during a blistering round, but the Northern Irishman managed to hang on.

The most recent player to successfully defend their crown and capture consecutive Masters titles was Tiger Woods, who accomplished the feat by winning in 2001 and 2002. Consequently, McIlroy has entered an extraordinarily exclusive club as just one of four golfers in history to successfully defend their title at Augusta National, alongside Jack Nicklaus (1965–66), Nick Faldo (1989–90), and Woods. It comes as McIlroy forced to shush Truist Championship crowd as Justin Rose interrupted.

McIlroy is now a six-time major winner and a two-time Masters victor, claiming back-to-back tournaments at Augusta with Diamond carrying his bag. He has worked as McIlroy's caddie since August 2017, taking over from J.P. Fitzgerald.

Diamond's position has evolved from merely hauling clubs to becoming an essential, high-stakes partnership - and this transformation is unmistakably reflected in the income of those supporting golf's top performers.

A lifelong friend of McIlroy, Diamond has seen his personal fortune expand considerably after years of collaborating with the Northern Irishman, despite enduring scrutiny as McIlroy suffered through an 11-year dry spell chasing his fifth major championship.

The financial landscape of professional golf continues to expand, with prize money reaching record levels. Following McIlroy's Augusta victory last month, which netted him a historic $4.5 million winner's check, Diamond is thought to have pocketed a substantial $450,000 from that tournament alone.

Caddies typically receive around 10 percent of tournament earnings and roughly seven percent for top-10 placements, meaning Diamond's enduring partnership with one of golf's premier players has been extremely profitable. He's reported to have earned $2 million as McIlroy's caddie throughout the 2025 season, ranking him among the highest-paid caddies in the game.

Throughout his career, which has stretched nearly nine years with McIlroy by his side, Diamond's total earnings have now surpassed $11 million. His net worth is estimated to be in the $3 million range.

Diamond's position as both a reliable caddie and close companion to one of golf's top earners has established him as one of the wealthiest bag carriers on the PGA Tour. McIlroy recognizes his caddie's value and credited the significance of his guidance in his 2025 Masters victory over Justin Rose in the playoff.

As McIlroy was forced into a playoff with Rose, Diamond intervened with eight words that turned out to be pivotal: "We would have taken this on Monday morning."

Following the round, McIlroy explained to reporters: "I'm like, 'Yeah, absolutely we would have.' That was an easy reset. He basically said to me, 'Look, you would have given your right arm to be in a playoff at the start of the week.' So that reframed it a little bit for me."
