Hope College to host special screening of PBS' 'Inventing America'
A special screening of "Inventing America: Conversations with the Founders" from PBS is set for 7 p.m. May 18 at the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts at 221 Columbia Ave. in Holland — according to a community announcement.
The event, organized by WGVU Public Media and the Hope Academy of Senior Professionals, will celebrate the semiquincentennial and pay tribute to late history professor Fred Johnson III, who died unexpectedly in February.
“Inventing America” first aired on PBS in 2016 and will be rebroadcast in June, according to the announcement. The local screening will feature highlights from the three episodes and a subsequent panel discussion with four scholars, including:
