Alexander Zverev and Alejandro Tabilo meet in the third round of the 2026 US Open, with the two set to face each other under the lights on Arthur Ashe Stadium. The No. 2 seed comes into the contest with a 2-0 record against Tabilo, but the Chilean will be looking to make the most of a major physical advantage.
The match is scheduled for Saturday night and is expected to begin around 8:30 PM EDT. However, with the contest following Eala-Jovic match in the night session, the start time could move later depending on how long the earlier match lasts.
Zverev Leads the Head-to-Head
Zverev has won both of his previous meetings with Tabilo. Their first encounter came in the semifinals of the 2024 Rome Masters, where Tabilo won the opening set 6-1 before Zverev fought back to win in three sets.
The German also defeated Tabilo in straight sets in the first round of last year’s US Open, winning 6-2, 7-6, 6-4.
While the head-to-head favors Zverev, the circumstances are different this time around. Zverev has already spent close to 10 hours on court in New York after being pushed to five sets by both Lorenzo Sonego and Quentin Halys.

Tabilo, meanwhile, has had a comparatively smoother route to the third round. The Chilean defeated Alexei Popyrin in four sets in his second-round match and has had more time to recover ahead of his meeting with Zverev.
That could become an important factor if the match turns into another physical battle.
Prediction: Zverev to Win in Four Sets
Tabilo has a real opportunity to make this uncomfortable for Zverev, particularly with the German having already spent more than nine hours on court in his opening two matches. However, Zverev has won both previous meetings, including their hard-court clash at last year’s US Open, and his serve and ability to control rallies from the baseline should give him the edge.

Tabilo Looks to Build on a Strong 2026
Tabilo has put together an encouraging season after dealing with several injury setbacks over the past year. The left-hander has climbed back up the rankings and reached a career-high No. 26.
He arrives in New York with a 23-21 singles record in 2026, while his best Grand Slam result this year came at Roland Garros, where he reached the fourth round.
The US Open has also given Tabilo another chance to revisit last year’s meeting with Zverev. He has spoken about wanting to approach the Arthur Ashe crowd differently this time, believing he is better prepared to handle the atmosphere and pressure.
