- Matt Damon has been married to wife Luciana Barroso for over 20 years.

- The two met in Miami in 2003, while Damon was filming *Stuck on You.*

- They have three daughters together, including Luciana’s daughter from a prior marriage, Alexia.

The *Odyssey** *premiere was a family affair for Matt Damon.

The star walked the red carpet for the film’s London premiere, flanked by his wife Luciana Barroso and their four daughters, Alexia, 27, Isabella, 20, Gia, 17, and Stella, 15. The happy family was all smiles and linked arm-in-arm.

Seeing his daughters all grown together was emotional for Damon, which he admitted to *Entertainment Tonight* in an interview. “Everybody’s so grown-up. Like, I got a real dad teary moment seeing them today,” he said.

Damon and Barroso have been together for over two decades, after crossing paths by chance in 2003 while Damon was filming *Stuck on You* in Miami, where Barroso was working as a bartender. They married two years later and welcomed three daughters over the course of the next five years. Damon is also stepfather to Barroso’s daughter from a previous relationship, Alexia.

But all of Damon’s daughters are his children to him — he even got their names inked on his arm, alongside his wife’s.

Despite having Odysseus for a father, Damon’s girls prefer to keep things low-key. Ahead, we take a closer look at Damon’s life with his five ladies.

Barroso previously worked as bartender, and recently as a film producer

Damon and Barroso met in April 2003, and sparks instantly flew. Damon was filming the Farrelly brothers’ comedy *Stuck on You**, *while Barroso was working as a bartender. One day, Damon and his crew came into her bar for a drink, and the rest is history. The actor discussed their charmed meet-cute on *The Ellen DeGeneres* *Show* in 2011.

“I literally saw her across a crowded room, literally,” he recalled. “Eight years and four kids later, that’s my life. I don’t know how else our paths would’ve crossed if that didn’t happen.”

While Barroso didn’t start out in the same industry as her husband, she has dabbled in recent years. She served as an executive producer on Damon’s 2024 film *The Instigators *and was a producer on this year’s Netflix thriller *The Rip,* in which Damon costarred alongside his platonic life partner Ben Affleck.

In 1999, Barroso welcomed her first daughter, Alexia, with her previous husband Arbello Barroso. After they divorced and Barroso linked up with Damon, the *Downsizing* actor took up the mantle of stepdad.

In an interview with *Vogue Australia* in 2018, Barroso discussed being a single mom to a young daughter while dating. In fact, she initially refused an early offer to go out with Damon and his friends because she needed to be home with Alexia. Damon, however, was more than understanding.

“I was like, ‘I can’t, I have a four-year-old daughter, I’m not going anywhere’… and that was one of the things he loved, that I had a daughter,” she said. “He said, ‘I love that you’re a mum and that’s your priority.’ Some guys might have been different, they might think it’s complicated, but for him it wasn’t.”

Alexia doesn’t seem to be interested in acting — despite a cameo in her father’s 2009 film *We Bought a Zoo *— but she is pursuing a healthy career in the film industry behind the scenes. In a recent interview with *E! News**,* Damon discussed Alexia’s burgeoning career in cinematography.

“She’s done about 12 movies,” he explained. “[She’s] worked on camera team[s] all over the world.” Her credits also include two of her dad’s titles, *The Instigators* (2024) and *The Last Duel *(2021).

Together, Damon and Barroso have welcomed three daughters: Stella in 2006, Gia in 2008, and Isabella in 2010.

On being a dad, Damon told *Fatherly* in 2021 that, “I feel like fatherhood has made my job a lot easier in a lot of ways. All those emotions that I used to have to reach for are just readily accessible. I don’t have to twist myself into knots to find something—it’s just sitting right there all the time.”

Damon has allowed his four daughters to enjoy some of the perks of having an A-list dad. They’ve joined him on various red carpets, visited the horses on the set of *True Grit* (2010), and even received a personalized birthday video from Harry Styles.

But your dad doesn’t need to be a celeb to enjoy the simple pleasures of tormenting him. Damon revealed that while he and his family were hunkering down in Ireland during the COVID-19 pandemic, he allowed his daughters to dye his hair red and give him a mohawk.

In a 2021 interview on *The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon* with pal Ben Affleck, Damon admitted, “I had let the kids dye my hair red. It was their art project basically, and it was clear that we weren’t going back to work. Then they decided that I needed a mohawk, so they mohawk-ed me.”

Still, Damon and Barroso do their best to not give their kids *too* much. In an interview with *Today* in 2017, the *Dogma* actor said he tried to avoid raising spoiled kids by giving away free toys that were sent to their family.

“They don’t need anything. So we send everything on to people who need it,” he explained. “When people send stuff to my kids, my kids have everything they need so we pass it right on. This is the life we’re giving them. It’s hard to figure out how to try to give them perspective.”

As for whether Damon’s three biological daughters will follow in Alexia’s film industry footsteps, he told *E! News*, “The other three might. I have one who’s at NYU now, who’s a fantastic writer, so I could see her following me into screenwriting. And we have two still in high school, so we’ll see.”

Damon takes on the title of “girl dad” with pride

Damon knows that he’s “outnumbered” by women in his family, but he’s not embarrassed to be a girl dad.

Damon has happily taken his daughters to a Harry Styles concert, and he admitted to PEOPLE that he “knew every word to every song.”

“It was great. Yeah, yeah, it was great,” he added. “They love him. And that album dropped, or at least I became aware of it, in that first lockdown. So we had that on repeat.”

In 2024, Damon appeared on SiriusXM’s *Radio Andy**, *and host Andy Cohen asked him what he’s like when one of his daughters brings a boy home. When Damon said that he was “cool with that,” Cohen probed, jokingly, “You don’t turn all ‘Boston’?” Damon assured him he doesn’t.

“That’s like an old trope that I think people like to play up,” Damon responded. “Dads like to joke about it amongst each other, I think, sometimes.”

Cohen then asked Damon if he had any advice on being a girl dad, as Cohen is also a father to two-year-old Lucy.

“I wouldn’t deign to give anybody advice, other than I just try to listen and be helpful,” he admitted. “I mean, ultimately, it’s about building self-esteem, because, you know, 99% of the decisions they make, you’re not gonna be there.”
