United States President Donald Trump was allegedly informed by Israel that Iran is weighing whether to renew efforts to assassinate him.
The revelation was made in a bombshell report released Thursday in The Wall Street Journal, in which sources familiar with the matter claimed that Israel obtained evidence of a fresh Iranian assassination plan on Trump's life. Trump alluded to the new intelligence the day before the report was released amid the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, this week.
"They want to take out the U.S. leader - me," Trump said Wednesday. "I'm on every list. I saw this morning, I'm on every single one of their lists. And so far, I guess I've been a little bit lucky, but that maybe doesn't last very long."

Iran has made assassination threats against Trump for several years following the president's order to target Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps General Qassem Soleimani in 2020 during his first term.
The report came out the same day that mourners gathered in the holy Iranian city of Mashad to bury the Islamic Republic's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who the U.S. and Israel assassinated at the start of the Iran war in February 2026.

Mashad was one of five Iranian cities, as well as cities in neighboring Iraq, that held ceremonies for Khamenei's funeral, where grieving Iranians held up banners that read "We Will Kill Trump" and "Kill Trump."

The Israeli embassy in Washington and Iran's Mission to the United Nations did not respond to The Wall Street Journal's report, and the White House referred the outlet to Trump's comments at the NATO summit alluding to renewed threats on his life.
The Wall Street Journal report notes that Trump's relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been strained in recent weeks over divergent views on how to handle the Iran war.
Netanyahu is eager to resume military operations, while Trump has expressed concern about how war efforts could lead to economic turmoil after suffering from record-low polling at home over the economic issues tied to the Iran war ahead of the high-stakes November midterms.
Trump had also condemned Israel's ongoing attacks on Lebanon, which threatened to spoil the fragile ceasefire struck between the U.S. and Israel last month.
However, the Israeli prime minister's office confirmed in a statement that Trump and Netanyahu spoke just today about maintaining "coordination between the countries," during which Trump shared new information about U.S. activity in the Gulf with Netanyahu.
Relations between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have splintered in recent weeks as their interests diverged over continuing the Iran war.
At the beginning of the war, the two leaders reportedly spoke frequently to coordinate war efforts, during which Netanyahu would allegedly feed Trump military targets and Israeli intelligence.
However, the calls grew tense as differences in opinion began to emerge as the war carried on.
