Filming has officially wrapped on *The Boys* prequel series *Vought Rising* — but Jensen Ackles can't leave the set until someone peels him out of his costume.
On Wednesday, the *Supernatural* alum shared an Instagram video to mark the final few hours of filming the 1950s-era superhero series. He also offered fans a glimpse at his Soldier Boy armor and the challenges that come with playing a well-dressed superhero.
"Final day of filming *Vought Rising *season 1," Ackles said at the start of the clip, before moving the camera to show his costume all laid out. "Gotta put this stuff on for one more time — boots, pants — but can't do it right now, because it takes *three* people to get me into this thing."
He amended, "Actually, today it takes five. Two departments. Good times." Looking off into the distance, Ackles said, "So, I'll just… wait here… to get dressed."
Putting aside the struggle of suiting up, Ackles had nothing but kind words to share in the video's caption. "Finishing out with a bang! It’s been an absolute thrill ride," he wrote. "Thanks to the crew and cast and all those that gave so much time and energy to make this happen. You’re all a bunch of psychos…and I love you for it."
*Vought Rising* takes fans of *The Boys* back into the twisted origins of Vought, the company that created Compound V, which induces superpowers in humans. The series will also chronicle the early exploits of Ackles' Soldier Boy — the so-called "hero" who has already proven himself a toxic and narcissistic antagonist over on *The Boys* — and Aya Cash's Stormfront, a diabolical supe with a knack for manipulating public opinion. The series will also mark the return of Ethan Slater's Thomas Godolkin, who first showed up in the spinoff series *Gen V*.
Ackles has previously lamented the struggles of getting in and out of his suit. While onstage at a fan convention last year, the actor told the crowd, "It takes me plus two costume people to put me together. And then I'm just in this thing, walking around all day and I sit down and— it's not comfortable."

He continued, "You do scenes, and you're trying to move normal, and you get *hot*. And it's cold up in Toronto [but] I'm sweating in that thing." He joked that by the end of the day, the armor basically has to be peeled off his body.
At the very least, all of Ackles' sweat and effort will be worth it. Last August, * *unveiled Prime Video's first look at the key *Vought Rising* supes — costumes and all —as the show's creatives opened up about how much detail went into the suit designs.

Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel, and Will Hochman as Torpedo from 'Vought Rising'.
"We got to have this really in-depth conversation of, 'How would they have started?'" series creator Eric Kripke told EW. "The first suits that anyone wore were military suits, which are performative and ornamental."

Kripke noted that the series tracks their leap from military to the private sector, where "things start getting flashier because it's about showmanship. It's less about military discipline and more about consumerism, and then you start to see them evolve that way. It's really fascinating."
Alongside Ackles and Cash, the series sees Mason Dye suit up as Bombsight, Will Hochman as Torpedo, and Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel.
A release date for *Vought Rising* has not yet been revealed, but the prequel series will follow on the heels of *The Boys *season 5. The conclusion of the flagship series will premiere on Amazon's Prime Video streaming platform on April 8, followed by a weekly release.
