John Stamos has no intention of joining Dancing with the Stars

The Full House star revealed on The Bobbycast that he’s been asked to compete on the show before, but does not want to

ā€œI’m never gonna do that show,ā€ he said

John Stamos won’t be hitting the ballroom anytime soon.

The Full House alum, 62, revealed during the Tuesday, July 7 episode of The Bobbycast that he has no intention of joining Dancing with the Stars, for one reason in particular. After being asked by host and DWTS winner Bobby Bones if he had been asked to be on the ABC competition series before, Stamos claimed he’s been asked ā€œevery single season.ā€

ā€œI said, ā€˜Don’t ever ask me again,ā€™ā€ Stamos said. ā€œI’m never gonna do that show.ā€

While Bones, 46, assured his guest that he’d ā€œlearn so muchā€ about himself if he joined the show and teamed up with pro Emma Slater, Stamos wasn’t feeling it. Bones himself previously won the competition series alongside Sharna Burgess during its 27th season in 2018.

ā€œI just never… What makes that show good is people suffering and looking like fools. They’re breaking their feet, calluses… I don’t want that,ā€ Stamos insisted.

Bones then gave Stamos a rundown of his season’s fellow celebrities, before Stamos gave him a hard time for beating out Fuller House alum Juan Pablo Di Pace in 2018. ā€œThat guy won that year and you shouldn’t have won,ā€ Stamos said. ā€œOh my God, that was an upset. That kid, he got 10s all across and then some jackass came in and beat him. That’s you? Oh my God, I’m done with this podcast.ā€

Stamos, who joked that Bones’ season of DWTS was ā€œrigged,ā€ has previously appeared on the show, although not as a competitor. He joined the Beach Boys for a medley performance of their hits during an earlier season.

In 2010, he tweeted that he didn’t see himself appearing on the show, despite fan hopes that he’d join (and pro Karina Smirnoff calling him a dream dance partner). ā€œI’m not doing Dancing with the Stars. Flattered to be asked,ā€ he wrote at the time. ā€œI’m not a dancer.ā€

While Stamos won’t be dancing anytime soon, he will be appearing in season 2 of Netflix’s The Hunting Wives. Back in March, Stamos teased that he was ā€œin this phase of my career where I’m really looking for challenging, different roles.ā€

ā€œPeople trust me. I’ve been coming to their homes for 30, 40 years or whatever. It’s like, ā€˜Okay, we’ll take this ride with him,’ and then it’s like, ā€˜Oh no, oh no, it’s getting weird. It’s getting weird,’ ā€œ he said. ā€œI just did Hunting Wives, which is a pretty dark, wild show.ā€

Stamos also revealed in December that his wife, Caitlin McHugh, asked him a very raunchy question when she found out he would be joining the sophomore season. ā€œI told my wife I was doing it, and she said, ā€˜Are you gonna show your penis?ā€™ā€ the actor recalled during an interview on the Today show. ā€œAnd I said, ā€˜I don’t think so.’ But it’s one of those shows.ā€
