Duhamel says he left L.A. to embrace a quieter Midwest lifestyle focused on family and hands-on living
Josh Duhamel has found a buyer for his $3 million Los Angeles home after less than two weeks on the market, according to the property listing.
The Ransom Canyon star, 53, first put the four-bedroom, four-bathroom Encino property on the market at the end of June. As of July 8, the listing, held by Thomas Atamian of Coldwell Banker Realty, is currently marked as “under contract.” The sale comes as the North Dakota native has expressed his interest in living in his Minnesota “doomsday cabin” full-time.
Duhamel first bought the ranch-style L.A. property for $2.65 million in 2017 as his family’s home base on the West Coast, according to Realtor.com. The abode spans 3,300 square feet of interior space and offers stunning mountain views.

Inside, the great room with an open layout connects seamlessly to the kitchen, living and dining areas. The kitchen comes with a large center island with barstool seating, custom cabinetry, and premium appliances.
The recently remodeled primary suite boasts two walk-in closets, backyard access, and a “spa-inspired bathroom” with a dual-sink vanity and both a freestanding soaking tub and walk-in shower.
The backyard is perfect for entertaining as the space includes a pool, hot tub, private sauna and a built-in BBQ area with space for outdoor dining.
During an interview with Extra TV in March, the Safe Haven actor explained he and his family currently live in North Dakota, but spend a “majority of our time” at their cabin across the border in Minnesota. Duhamel and Mari welcomed baby daughter Rocca de Leon back in May. The actor also shares sons Axl, 12, and Shepherd, 2, with ex-wife Fergie.

“It’s very cold this time of year, so it’s not ideal, but I truly could live out there all year round if it weren’t for work,” Duhamel revealed. He says the kids get a “taste” of L.A., but back at home, they get to enjoy the woods.

“They’re just exploring. They’re swimming. They’re jet skiing. They’re skiing. It’s a pretty special place,” he said.
Last August, Duhamel opened up to PEOPLE about his decision to leave the bustle of L.A. behind in favor of a quieter life in the Midwest.
“I make movies and TV shows, and I love it, I truly do love it, but I had this calling to go and really do things with my hands again — fix things, make things and just do the basic things that we take for granted,” Duhamel explained.
“I’m really more of a guy who wants to stay true to my roots, get back to the basics, hone whatever basic skills I need in this world of massive technology, to do the basic things to provide for my family,” he added. “That’s really what it’s about for me.”

He went on to explain he bought an empty half-parcel of land about 30 minutes outside Fargo, N.D., more than a decade ago. Slowly over time, he built a rustic cabin there himself. The property, which Duhamel referred to as his “doomsday cabin” did not have electricity, running water and other amenities for a long time.
“We’re at a place now where it feels done. It’s completely livable now,” he said.
