Chargers running back Keaton Mitchell returned to practice on Monday after missing six consecutive sessions with an undisclosed injury.
Mitchell participated in drills during Monday's practice, providing a promising update for the Chargers as they prepare for their regular-season opener. He missed six straight practices following a mild setback sustained during an August preseason game against the 49ers

While his participation on the field is a major step forward, his exact availability for Sunday's matchup against the Cardinals remains to be officially confirmed. General manager Joe Hortiz previously noted that the issue was not considered major enough to place Mitchell on injured reserve.
Mitchell is expected to serve as a change-of-pace complement to lead back Omarion Hampton. Mitchell spent his first three NFL seasons with the Ravens before signing a two-year, $9.25 million contract with Los Angeles in the offseason.
