Maria Bartiromo's time at Fox News came to an abrupt end this week after spending 12-and-a-half years with the broadcaster.
In a terse statement, Fox News announced, "Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with FOX News Media," extending best wishes for her future endeavors. The right-wing network also swiftly removed her name from all programming schedules following the unexpected announcement.
According to Status, the veteran journalist's dismissal reportedly stemmed from a July incident where Donald Trump promoted his discredited theories about the 2020 presidential election during a primetime segment. This comes as Bartiromo's "smartest" next step has been revealed.

Sources informed the publication that Fox News had directed staff not to legitimize the 80-year-old president's assertions. Bartiromo allegedly shared that directive with the White House and revealed the network's internal text message when questioned about their coverage decisions regarding Trump's statements.
Nevertheless, Scott Keever, CEO of Reputation Pro, suggested that Maria might find opportunities at another right-wing outlet following her Fox News departure, reports the Express US.

"There are several courses that Maria Bartiromo can follow. She could, depending on her contract provisions, join a conservative/pro Trump media outlet like Newsmax or One America," he exclusively told the Daily Express US.
"Mainstream outlets would be leery of her due to her violating the company confidentiality clause of her contract," he added.
Keever also suggested that Bartiromo could be considered for a position within Trump's administration. "She could join the Trump Administration and in many ways would be ideal as a replacement for Karoline Levitt or serve in some other capacity," Keever told the outlet. "Or join a PAC associated with Trump."
Keever also suggested that stepping back could be a shrewd move for Bartiromo, noting, "She could also take a sabbatical and write an insider's account of FOX News. Regardless of which path she opts for, we have not seen the end of her."

Keever's remarks come as Bartiromo's attorney has pushed back against reports claiming the veteran journalist was let go by Fox News.
Bryan Freedman flatly denied the allegations as "absolutely and unequivocally false," telling the media, "For many years, Maria Bartiromo hosted three number-one-rated television shows on Fox channels. She has been, without question, one of the hardest-working journalists throughout her award-winning career.
"The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false," his statement added.
"Make no mistake. We have the receipts and witnesses, and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise. Those reporting her firing or the incredulous facts supporting that fiction have exhibited a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth."
