- Caleb Ellsworth-Clark speaks for the first time as Dewey in the trailer for *Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair*.

- Dewey was previously portrayed by Erik Per Sullivan, who retired from screen acting in 2010.

Your new Dewey has spoken — and he's horrified by all that he beholds.

A new trailer for *Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair* opens with a hilariously distressing image: Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) shaving the back of Hal (Bryan Cranston) as the latter stands completely nude in front of a laptop.

Unfortunately, the chaotic couple's son Dewey is watching the entire process unfold on said laptop via video call.

"You know, I can call back later," Dewey says.

"Come on, Dewey, you've seen this like a thousand times," Hal responds before making an alarming request. "Undergrowth!"

Lois then moves the razor toward her husband's crotch area as Dewey makes a disgusted face.

Dewey looks a little different than you remember from the original *Malcolm in the Middle* series — and he should, because there's an entirely new actor playing him. Caleb Ellsworth-Clark has taken over the role, which was played by Erik Per Sullivan on the original show.

Cranston previously explained why Per Sullivan didn't join the rest of his former screen family on the show's upcoming revival. "I talked to Erik and I said, 'Hey, we got the show! It's going to come back.' He goes, 'Oh, that's fantastic!'" the *Breaking Bad *star shared in an interview with *Fly on the Wall* last year. "And I go, 'Yeah, so we're looking forward to having you back.' He goes, 'Oh, no, no, I don't want to do it. But it's fantastic.'"

Cranston explained that Per Sullivan, who has not appeared on screen since 2010, is pursuing a different career path. "He's actually going to Harvard," he said. "He's really, really smart, and he's getting his master's at Harvard right now. He said, 'Oh God, no, I haven't acted since I was nine or something. So I'm not into it.'"

The rest of the trailer re-establishes the stakes of the four-episode revival via narration from Frankie Muniz's protagonist Malcolm.

"Yeah, I look different, but hey: everything about me *is* different." he says as he introduces his girlfriend Tristan (Kiana Madeira) and his daughter Leah (Keeley Karsten). "My life is fantastic now. All I have to do is stay completely away from my family."

Lois later announces that Malcolm "has been intentionally hiding himself from this family for years," leading Reese (Justin Berfield) to proclaim, "I think we all knew Malcolm would eventually betray us!"

In a different scene, Malcolm exclaims, "This family's nonstop antisocial behavior and mindless myopic priorities are toxic to me!"

Tristan implores Malcolm to "make peace" with his family.

"It's not just Mom and Dad. It's so much worse with my brothers," Malcolm says.

"You have brothers?" his girlfriend responds.

The final scene of the trailer shows the rest of the family meeting Leah on a video call.

"We have a thousand questions," Lois says.

"What do you wanna do when you grow up?" Hank asks. "Crush *your* father's soul and make him question his own identity?"

*Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair* hits Hulu on April 10. Watch the full trailer above.
