Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem made their first public appearance in months during the 2026 Venice Film Festival.

They were photographed together in September 7.

Cruz opted for a plunging black mididress and $8,000 earrings.

Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem made a rare joint appearance during the Venice Film Festival on September 7. The actors, who’ve been married for over 15 years, posed for photos along the city’s famous canals.

Cruz sported a plunging black mididress complete with quarter sleeves and a wrap detail at the waist. The Invite star styled it with a suede Chanel flap bag, slingback stilettos, and cat-eye frames, completing her look with Pasquale Bruni earrings. The oversized onyx and diamond studs, which cost $8,800, are set in 18kt rose gold and feature the brand’s signature floral motif.

Bardem, meanwhile, paired a blue button-down with dark-wash jeans and white lace-up shoes.

Back in July, Cruz made a candid confession about her relationship with Bardem. In an interview with People, she explained how their marriage is constantly changing.

“I feel like I’m still learning you know?’ Cruz said. “And I am with somebody that I’ve known for 33 years.”

“I really know that person, but it’s like, is there a day where you really get to know yourself? No. So the same with your partner,” she said.

The couple met on the set of the film Jamón Jamón in 1992, but they didn’t start dating until years later. They tied the knot in 2010, welcoming their children in 2011 and 2013, respectively.

Speaking to Porter in a separate interview published on July 6, Cruz discussed how she approaches parenting two teenagers.

“My parents had me so young that I grew up being able to talk to them about everything,” Cruz said. “I want the same thing in my relationship with my kids. To create a safe environment where they feel that they can ask all the questions and share whatever they need to. And I will listen without judgement.”
