Days after Prime Video and MGM+ pulled the plug on it, Spider-Noir walked away from the Creative Arts Emmys with five wins. This added an awkward touch to a cancellation that has already left fans fuming. The Nicolas Cage-led series, which premiered in May, was canceled earlier this week after just one season. It had picked up 11 Emmy nominations this year, more than any other show on the streamer.
Spider-Noir wins big at Emmys
At Sunday’s Creative Arts Emmys, Spider-Noir took home five trophies. They were for stunt coordination for comedy programming, sound editing for a one-hour comedy or drama series, title design, special visual effects in a single episode, and cinematography for a series.
Backstage, supervising stunt coordinator Freddy Bouciegues and stunt coordinator Hugh Aodh O’Brien addressed the irony of celebrating wins for a canceled show. Asked whether they hoped Prime Video might reverse its decision, Bouciegues joked, “Tell me who to call, I’ll ask them.”
The series starred Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, a struggling private investigator in 1930s New York who is “forced to grapple with his past life following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero,” according to the show’s official logline. It was Cage’s first regular television series and the first step in Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios’ plan to expand Marvel characters under the Sony umbrella.

Fans call Spider-Noir cancellation an ‘absolute mistake’
The Spider-Noir cancellation has led to backlash on X, where fans argue the show was thriving, not failing. One user wrote, “It doesn’t make sense at all for these to be cancelled. Spider-Noir had a massive budget but it was pulling in viewers and there was tons of demand for a 2nd Season.”
Others lumped the decision in with recent cancellations of other Marvel projects. “The two best Marvel series in years and they cancel them,” one fan wrote, while another added, “wonder man, blade and now spider noir. they can’t keep getting away with this.” More reactions echoed the frustration: “Huge mistake. Spider-Noir was one of Amazon’s best shows,” and “Canceling one of the best comic book shows after just one season.”
All in all, the timing stings. A show wins five Emmys days after cancellation. Fans see the contradiction clearly.
