**This post contains spoilers for season 4 of *Sullivan’s Crossing.***

- *Sullivan’s Crossing* season 4, now streaming on Netflix, includes Maggie at a crossroads with her newly emerged husband, Liam, and her boyfriend, Cal.

- Star Morgan Kohan tells EW about getting the chemistry right with both leading men.

- She also opens up about her mindset going into filming season 5.

Season 4 of *Sullivan’s Crossing* finds Maggie in a love triangle with Cal and Liam — and star Morgan Kohan was feeling the pressure to make the audience feel as torn as her character.

ā€œYou want the love triangle to really be, ā€˜Oh God, it could go either way.’ And understand why Maggie’s so conflicted about it too,ā€ Kohan tells *.*

The latest installment started streaming on Netflix on June 30 after airing in Canada and on The CW. Marcus Rosner’s Liam showed up at the end of season 3 and revealed he was Maggie’s husband — causing a complicated dynamic with her boyfriend, Cal, played by series regular Chad Michael Murray.

ā€œOn the one hand, it’s Marcus who is extraordinarily charming and beautiful and handsome and radiates loveliness. So I wasn’t worried that the audience was not going to fall in love with him, but you never quite know how the chemistry is going to land,ā€ Kohan continues. ā€œI’ve known Marcus for a couple years, too. We were friends prior to filming this. … It’s this funny dynamic for it to be friends first and then coming into this so that I really was like, ā€˜Oh, I hope that this sells.ā€™ā€

Kohan tells EW that she was determined to get the moment when Maggie finally kisses Liam right as a pivotal part of the love stories.

ā€œThe scene that I was the most nervous or anxious to get right was the basement scene with Liam because there’s such an outcome from that,ā€ she says. ā€œIt needed to be earned. It’s always this thing of trying not to push on the day as an actor because then you’re getting into icky territory — that balance was stressing me out.ā€

Emotions were also running high during a season where Maggie and Cal break up amid the drama.

ā€œThe scene with Cal, the breakup — my work with Chad just gets better and better because we trust each other more and more,ā€ Kohan explains. ā€œYou know you’re showing up with somebody who’s going to be so present and there and supportive with you. We’ve known each other for four years now. We know a lot about each other’s lives. So when I’m feeling things, he knows where I’m going. There’s this really beautiful, supportive bubble around it.ā€

While the chemistry was certainly there between Maggie and Liam, she ultimately finds her way back to Cal — and he even proposes in the season finale…despite the ink barely being dry from the Liam divorce papers.

ā€œI think Maggie was ready for that, yes,ā€ Kohan tells EW. ā€œOnce she knew and the Liam situation was done, she was so single focused on Cal that he could have proposed anything and she just would’ve been in.ā€

While Maggie’s answer wasn’t revealed, *Sullivan’s Crossing* has already been renewed for season 5.

ā€œI always find by the end of the season, getting to watch along with people, I’m like, ā€˜Oh, I’m so excited to get back and get back into this.’ I get a little bit of a breather once we finish filming before we really jump into post,ā€ Kohan says of her mindset going into another season. ā€œAnd then by the time everybody else is getting excited about it, it gets me really excited to get back in as well.ā€

As for what’s to come, Kohan thinks Maggie could explore conflicts within her friendships after several seasons about her family (Maggie’s father, Scott Patterson’s Sully, exited after season 3) and love life.

ā€œI really did enjoy the family side of things because there’s so much history built in there whereas a romantic, you’re working in a little bit of a shorter timeline. In terms of exploring [new conflict], I think friendships,ā€ she says. ā€œYou don’t see too many friendship breakups or conflicts and how people get through because we all talk, we all have our breakups, our heartbreaks in a romantic way, but the friendship stuff can be really, really tricky.ā€

Season 4 of *Sullivan’s Crossing* is now streaming on Netflix.
