MomTok is taking aim at each other.
As The Secret Lives of Mormon Wiveswraps filming for season 5 after pausing production earlier this year, the cast has been sharing behind-the-scenes looks on social media, which has caused some contention among the group.
In a playful video shared on July 8, Whitney Leavitt and other members of MomTok â Miranda Hope, Jessi Draper, Layla Taylor, Jen Affleck, Mayci Neeley and Mikayla Matthews â are seen dancing together with an overlay that reads, âWeâre surviving.â
The caption plays on the ever-present question, âWill MomTok survive this?â which has been the showâs unofficial tagline since its first season. The cast reunion is no small feat, with drama between many of the cast members since the conclusion of season 4. Despite the tension, Miranda and Jessi appear in the video together, as do Whitney and Jen, all of whom left off on tense terms.
Noticably absent from the video is Taylor Frankie Paul, who will not be returning to season 5 of the hit Hulu series after she and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, were involved in a âdomestic assault investigationâ and continue their ongoing contentious custody battle. The pair both appeared in a custody hearing on July 8 in Utah court, where the judge expanded Taylorâs parent time to extend her weekends with her son Ever.
Shortly after Whitneyâs post, Taylor seemingly reacted to the dig from her costars in an Instagram Reel, captioning the post, âGot a whole team going at me during my lowest. Keep aiming I guess⊠your shots are terribleâŠâ
The clip features the text, âA team trying to humble and calling it a joke...â as Chris Brownâs âLook at Me Nowâ kicks in. The text then says, âMy turn. Letâs humble,â as Taylor shares screenshots of various text messages, claiming sheâs been offered similar opportunities as her castmates, such as Dancing with the Stars, Miami Swim Week and writing a memoir.
In a later Instagram Stories post, Taylor appears tearful in the front seat of a car with the caption, âToday was extremely difficult, meanwhile there has been at least 12+ people throughout this trying to make it harder. Thank you God for revealing them all I want to be nothing like them. They bully, I defend myself .. not the same. Pay attention how this plays out. I trust.â

The posts solicited various reactions from other members of MomTok. Jessi shared a video discussing her perspective, telling fans, âRespectfully, you guys need to calm down.â

âI know that MomTok is all about drama videos and figuring out who is friends with who and whoâs clapping back at each other, but you guys donât know whatâs going on behind the scenes. Just remember, we film a reality show and you guys donât know the ins and outs until it comes out,â she began.
Jessi emphasized that MomTok was trying to have some fun while filming and that her participation in the video wasnât a statement about where her friendship with Taylor stands.

âI have been very public in my support of Taylor. I still support Taylor. She knows that. I talk to her every single day. Still friends with her, still love her. I also still have some friendships in MomTok, and we also film a show together, and we work together, and we have to be together and have to make videos together. Itâs part of our job, but itâs also a good thing that the group is able to get along and make these videos right now.â
Jessi found it a âpositive thingâ in and of itself that the rest of the group could gather and film without drama, noting the video âwas not meant ot be a bash on anyone.â
âIt was not meant to be a dig. It was just that, âHey weâre all together filming right now and weâre going to make a fun video, like the old days,â she noted, concluding by saying she can be friends with people who donât get along with each other and asking fans to stop sending her hate in response to the video.

Mikayla also shared her thoughts in an Instagram Stories post, which were more critical of Taylor. âBashing accomplishments of women whoâve done nothing but celebrate yours is definitely a choice,â she wrote, sharing screenshots of her castmatesâ recent career highlights.
âShoutout to Whitney and Jen, who BOTH went on Dancing with the Stars and absolutely KILLED it (one of them freshly postpartum), Mayci for becoming a New York Times bestselling author, and Slayla for absolutely eating up every runway. And of course, shoutout to all the other incredible accomplishments that somehow made the cut to be diminished in her post,â she wrote.
âFor someone whoâs so big on âdefending yourselfâ and ânot being silenced,â itâs pretty hypocritical to simultaneously use your massive platform to pressure and intimidate the people around you into staying quiet about their experiences,â she concluded.
