Psych captivated audiences when it first hit the small screen in July 2006, becoming the highest-rated American basic cable television premiere that year.
The show followed the adventures of fake psychic Shawn Spencer and his best friend Gus as they helped the Santa Barbara Police Department solve cases.
The show ran for eight seasons, from 2006 to 2014. After the show ended, the story continued in three movies: Psych: The Movie, Psych 2: Lassie Come Home and Psych 3: This Is Gus. The cast has teased the possibility of a fourth movie, but until then, see what they’ve been up to over the last 20 years.

James Roday Rodriguez as Shawn Spencer

James Roday Rodriguez starred as “psychic” Shawn Spencer on the crime comedy.
Outside of the three Psych movies, Rodriguez starred on the TV show A Million Little Things, whichran for five seasons from 2018 to 2023.
He began working behind the camera during his time on Psych, directing eight episodes, and later directed episodes of The Resident, The Crossover and High Potential. Rodriguez also co-wrote several projects, such as 2006’s Skinwalkers and2015’s Gravy.
Rodriguez dated his Psych costar Maggie Lawson throughout most of the series’ run, but they broke up around the time the show came to an end.

Dulé Hill as Burton “Gus” Guster

Dulé Hill had already built a name for himself — thanks to roles in The West Wing, for which he received an Emmy nomination, Holes and more — when hejoined the cast of Psych as Shawn’s best friend and pharmaceutical salesman–private detective Burton “Gus” Guster.
Since starring on Psych, he has had recurring roles on shows like Ballers, Suits, Bel-Air, Good American Family and the 2021 remake of The Wonder Years.
Hill, who was previously married to actress Nicole Lyn, proposed to Ballers costar Jazmyn Simon in 2017. The pair married in 2018, and Hill adopted her daughter. The couple announced the birth of their son a year later.

Timothy Omundson as Carlton “Lassie” Lassiter

Before Timothy Omundson accepted the role of Detective Lassie, the skeptical and straight-laced character, on Psych, he had starred in projects like Xena: Warrior Princess and Judging Amy.
He then landed roles in Supernatural and Galivant, as well as doing some voice acting work.
In late April 2017, Omundson suffered a major stroke. At the time, doctors didn’t know if he would ever be able to walk again, let alone act.
Still, he went on to have a small part in Psych: The Movie and more substantial roles in Psych 2: Lassie Come Home and Psych 3: This Is Gus while he continued his recovery. During this time, he also took on a recurring role in This Is Us as a stroke survivor, and played Hephaestus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Omundson has been married to his wife, Allison Cowley, since the ‘90s and they share two daughters.

Maggie Lawson as Juliet “Jules” O’Hara

Before Psych, Maggie Lawson had roles in Home Improvement, Felicity, ER,Party of Five and Boy Meets World. She then stepped into the role of Detective Juliet “Jules” O’Hara, Shawn’s love interest.
After Psych, she starred in TV shows like The Ranch, Santa Clarita Diet, Outmatched and Boston Blue.
Since 2021, Lawson has expanded into podcasting and now co-hosts the Psych rewatch podcast, The Psychologists Are In with Maggie Lawson and Timothy Omundson. Lawson also hosts Unconditional with Maggie Lawson, which talks about the relationship between people and pets.
Lawson was married to actor Ben Koldyke in 2015, and they divorced in 2017.

Corbin Bernsen as Henry Spencer

Corbin Bernsen joined the cast of Psych as Henry Spencer, Shawn’s no-nonsense and strict father and former police detective.
Before joining the show, Bersen had a long career, starring in TV shows like Ryan’s Hope, The Larry Sanders Show and LA Law, which earned him Emmy and Golden Globe nominations,and movies like Major League, Dear Air and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
After Psych, he continued to find steady work in TV shows like The Resident, Your Friends & Neighbors, Billions and The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.
Bernsen published his novel, Rust, in 2015. He and his wife Amanda Pays also co-authored two more books: Change Houses, Not Spouses and Open House: Reinventing Space for Simple Living.
Bernsen, who was previously married to Brenda Cooper, married Pays in 1988. They share four sons, Oliver, Angus, Henry and Finley.
The actor also owns one of the largest snow globe collections worldwide, with over 8,000 globes.

Kirsten Nelson as Chief Karen Vick

Kirsten Nelson starred in Psych as the levelheaded Chief Karen Vick of the police department.
Prior to joining the cast of Psych, she starred in TV shows like The West Wing, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Ally McBeal and movies like The Fugitive, Baby’s Day Out and Larceny.
After Psych ended, she continued to shine on the small screen in projects like Eli Stone, Parenthood, This Is Us and Bluff City Law.
She married in 1995 and has two children, yet keeps her life relatively private.

Liam James as Young Shawn Spencer

Liam James was just 10 years old when he started playing a young version of Shawn Spencer for five seasons, until he was ultimately replaced by Skyler Gisondo.
After Psych, he starred in Fringe, The Killing and The Family. He also starred in movies like 2012, Speech & Debate and The Way, Way Back, for which he won the Young Hollywood Award.
